Drivers for hire 1. Who drives with Cribble? Anyone who says they have a vehicle and supporting documents. 2. Who organises the drivers? The drivers are self organised. 3. Can anyone drive with Cribble? Yes. We don't require any documentation but you must accept the terms and conditions. 4. Can anyone use a Cribble driver? Yes. Anyone who can download Cribble from the AppStore or GooglePlay and who has a credit card or cash can request a driver if they accept the terms and conditions. 5. Is Cribble a taxi Operator or a courier? Neither. Cribble is the software facilitating communication and payments between drivers and clients and keeping records. 6. Does Cribble provide assurance about the service? No. Cribble just defines the terms and conditions to use the system which the drivers and clients must accept. It is the responsibility of the drivers and clients to comply with the terms and conditions. If non compliance is detected by Cribble or reported to Cribble then the offenders will be blocked from further usage. 7. Is Cribble a competitive driver service? Yes. Drivers using Cribble will receive a much higher percentage of the fare than with other transport solutions. Drivers can also surge and set preferred destinations at any time to get the best trips. 8. Is Cribble a competitive client service? Yes. Clients using Cribble can compare the prices of nearby drivers and pick the driver/car with the gig that suits them best. It will always be a great deal and the driver will always have the ride that he wants. Thats what makes Cribble a win/win deal and the preferred way to go for both drivers and clients. 9. What is the biggest difference between Cribble and other solutions? It is the client who picks the driver and not a computer that allocates the driver. In addition, each driver will have a different gig so it's important to pick a driver who can provide the service that you need. 10. What prevents the driver from picking the client? The position or need of the client is unknown to the driver until the client finds an available driver and decides to place an order. 11. Can a client book a car in advance? No. Cribble is a real-time system that shares the availability of a driver right now for immediate hire. 12. Who sets Cribble pricing? Cribble defines the framework with a minimum fee and a price per unit of time. The driver can change the base price per unit of time at any time or for any reason (before accepting a trip). When a client clicks on a driver to get a quote then the price per unit of time stipulated by the driver will be used to make a fixed price quote. 13. Why would a driver change the price per hour? A self-employed Cribble driver will want to maximise profit by getting the most trips at the highest price and lowest costs. Some drivers may want to offer discounts to get more business and others may want to increase prices when demand is perceived to be high. Other drivers with a special gig may want to charge more or drivers in a specific area may want to adjust pricing. Those are all the choices of the independent Cribble drivers. 14. Are there any extra costs for clients? Normally not but some extras are foreseen in the price list. These include an airport surcharge, waiting time and a cleaning charge. 15. How can I pay a Cribble driver? Drivers accept cash or credit card payments or both. If you make a cash order you must pay with cash and if you make a card order you must pay with card. Cash buyers should pay as soon as meet the driver because the price is fixed. Card buyers must pre-register a card which will be charged as the trip ends. You will receive an email confirmation. 16. What can Cribble drivers carry? That's something to be agreed with the driver. Drivers will explain their gig in their profile that you can read before booking. 17. What is a gig? A gig is a job for a short time. Each driver may have specific services on offer. That's the drivers gig and competitive edge. The gig could be described in terms of characteristics of the vehicle or special services provided by the driver. The description of the gig is one of the thinks that makes picking a driver a unique concept. 18. Can this service be used to legally move people? Most drivers, including licensed private hire drivers would be breaking the law by doing so. There this is not allowed in the terms and conditions. Taxi drivers might be allowed to use the service to find passengers. We have sought URGENT clarification from TFL 13th March 2019 and await a response.
Shopping 1. What is a Cribble Shop? A Cribble Shop is a way to present your goods to potential customers. Simply scan a barcode, add a photo, brief description and price and you are ready to go in less than 30 seconds. 2. Who can add a Cribble Shop? Everyone who has successfully registered to accept payments on Cribble can add a Cribble Shop. There is a shortcut to edit your shop configuration on the home screen. Simply taphold the add contact button and you will be able to start adding things to your store (if you have already registered to accept payments). 3. How can someone use Cribble in my shop? Everyone who enters your physical shop can scan your barcodes and pay with Cribble. The client simply scans the barcode and only needs to enter their cvc to pay. 4. What happens if someone scans a barcode in a competitor's shop? If your competitor is within a 40-50 kilometre radius of your store then the article will be listed with a reference to your store. In this case, the approximate address of your store will be displayed together with the price. If the customer clicks the item they can buy the item and if they taphold the item then they will see the other items in your store. 5. How does Cribble know the address of my shop? When you scan an item and add it to your shop your approximate GPS co-ordinates are captured and recorded with the article. The GPS co-ordinates are converted to an approximate address when your store is proposed as the result of a scan. 6. Why do I need to add an item to my Cribble shop? Barcodes are added to goods by the manufacturer but the price is allocated by the shop. You therefore need to add the price of the product in your shop. The picture and description are optional but in practice you will want to add this to have a nice shop. 7. Do I need to add all my items to the Cribble shop? Add whatever items you want to allow your clients to self-scan and self-pay. If you don't add an item then your clients can't self-scan with Cribble and they won't find the price when in the store of your competitor. Your client may also be confused if some items are in Cribble and others are not. We therefore recommend to add all items to give your clients a uniform shopping experience. 8. How does Cribble compare to Apple Pay? Apple Pay is a mechanism to store credit card details in your iphone 6 so that you can use your phone as a contactless card. If you also download the Apple Store App then you will have a similar experience to using Cribble but it will only work in the Apple Store and only if you have an iphone 6 or better. Cribble enables all stores to offer a similar shopping experience to all customers who have any iOS or any Android phone. 9. What is the additional cost of having a Cribble Shop? Our standard payment fees are augmented by 8% and 20 cents for a Cribble Shop. 10. Where do my clients put the delivery address for goods bought in my Cribble shop? If you want to charge for delivery then add an item called delivery in your store. 11. How can I issue a refund to a Cribble payment? You can taphold the corresponding payment in the "payments" chat and then click OK to initiate the refund. The total amount will be refunded to the buyer. Charges will be refunded to the seller. To prevent accidental refunds we ask you to type a three digit code when making a refund. 12. What is the name of my Cribble shop? The primary name of your Cribble shop is the email address that is also your name in Cribble and is linked to your bank account to receive payments. However, you may add a "friendly name" and a picture of your shop . When added, your friendly name will be used when your shop or cart for your shop is displayed. We will always show your email on the payment form and in Cribble chat messages for consistency with the email confirmations. 13. Does Cribble Shop have a shopping cart? Yes. Scanned items are automatically added to your cart if you are in a Cribble Shop. Clicking on an item in a Cribble shop listing will also add it to the cart. If you want to remove an item simply swipe left. If you want to empty the entire cart swipe the total left. If you want to pay for the entire cart click the total. 14. Can I add an item to my Cribble Shop that doesn't have a barcode? Yes. The preferred option is to create a Cribble code as described below so that your clients still have a code that they can scan. It is also possible to addd an item to your shop with a unique reference (e.g. your email address followed by a number) and this item will appear in your shop listing and can be added to the shopping cart. If you crete a QR code or a semacode for this unique value then Cribble will also search for the article. 15. How to I find Cribble Shops? You can find nearby Cribble Shops by clicking the geoSearch icon on the home screen. This will search for shops close to your current location so it is necessary to enable location services on your phone. Alternatively, in the Favourites screen you will find an icon to search for nearby shops.. 16. What can I do with the list of shops? Cribble Pay 1. How do Cribble payments differ from web purchases? If you want to accept payments on your website then you need select a payments service provider and add their payments button and shopping cart interface. You then need your clients to visit your website to make a payment. Cribble simplifies this process because you don't need a website. You simply download the Cribble app, fill one form and start accepting payments while you chat with your clients. 2. How will I know if my contact accepts payments? When you are chatting with your contact you will see a credit card icon to pay if your contact has registered to receive payments. You will also see a green $ sign beside the contact name on the Cribble main page if your contact accepts payments. 3. How do I make a Cribble payment? The first time you make a payment you must enter your credit card information. For subsequent transactions you must enter your CVC (number on the back of your card) and the currency/amount. Yes. you will receive an immediate confirmation right in the Cribble chat. In addition, you will receive an email from the payment provider. 5. Do I have to re-enter my credit card details for each payment No. The payment service provider remembers the last credit card that you used to pay someone else. The card details are never seen by Cribble due to the security mechanisms implemented by the payment service provider to ensure PCI compliance. 6. How do I make payments? Start by adding your supplier as a contact. You can then select the card symbol in the chat session to make a payment. If you have previously entered your credit card details you can simply enter the amount and optional description to pay. First time users need to enter full credit card details. 8. Which payment service providers does Cribble support? Cribble has an open model so that we can work with a number of payment service providers to bring our customers choice and ensure that the payment service providers remain competitive. We are currently working with Stripe (www.stripe.com) who offer all clients a flat competitive rate with no sign-up or other recurring fees. 9. What are the fees for a Cribble payment ? Cribble charges a premium of 0.6% plus 5 cents to the fees charged by the payment service provider. 10. Can everyone receive payments? Not yet. Both companies and sole traders (individuals) can register to receive credit card payments. However, we are not yet ready to register customers in all countries. Cribble can currently register customers in USA, Canada, Australia and most european countries. 11. Why do I need to provide many details to receive payments? It is necessary to comply with the regulations for Anti Money Laundering which mandate certain "know your customer" requirements which must be performed during the registration process to accept payments. It will also be evident that this information is necessary in order to lodge the funds in your bank account. 12. How do I activate incoming payments via Cribble? Taphold the Payments contact for a couple of seconds and you will be invited to fill a form to accept payments. 13. Can I fill the payment acceptance form on a larger screen? Sure. Can everyone make payments? Yes. Everyone with a Visa, MasterCard or Amex card can make payments. 15. What if I lose my phone? It will not be possible for someone else to use your phone to make payments unless they know your CVC which must be entered for each payment. As added safety, lock your phone and cancel your card if your phone is lost or stolen. 16. Will I receive a receipt when I make a payment? Yes. You will receive a payment message within Cribble and an email from our payment provider. 17. Can I print the receipt? Yes. You may print the email from your normal email program. No. We have decided that private messages should be one to one. 3. Can I send photos via Cribble? Yes. You can share photos but images are not heavily encrypted. 4. Can I attach documents to a Cribble message? No. Cribble messages are just short text style messages. 5. Can I send a link via Cribble? Yes. You may send a link such as http://www.cribble.eu or even just www.cribble.eu and the app will open the link in your browser. Clearly the contents of the link will not be encrypted but the link itself will be encrypted. 6. Can I send a link to a video via Cribble? Yes. If your video is available on YouTube or any other site you may send a link which will be encrypted during transmission. Clearly, when you download the video itself, the video will be viewed in the browser, so it will not be encrypted by Cribble. 7. Can I dictate a Cribble message Yes. Just click the microphone on your keyboard and your message will be typed for you if your phone supports this feature. 8. How long do Cribble servers keep my messages? The Cribble servers keep messages until they are delivered. This is usually for less than one second but could be hours or days in the case that the recipient does not open the app. In any case, the messages are fully encrypted using keys that only the sender and receiver know. 9. How long are messages stored on my phone? Messages are not stored for any particular time limit. However, we respect the fact that your phone has limited memory and therefore automatically limit the number of messages that are stored per conversation. We currently keep about 20 messages per conversation. 10. Can I delete messages from my phone? Yes. You can swipe left on any message to delete all messages with that contact. 11. Can I also delete the payment log on my phone? No. We have decided that the payment log can't be deleted (unless you delete the app) and that we will keep the last 50 transactions for easy reference. 12. Can I delete a contact? Yes. You can delete a contact and all related messages by swiping left on a contact. 13. Can I chat to my Cribble Cab driver? Once your order is accepted by the driver you can add the driver as a contact and chat. The chat history and the contact is deleted when the trip ends.
Cribble Security 1. How does Cribble security work? Cribble uses the highly secure RSA algorithm to encrypt and sign your messages. This is a well known and well studied algorithm that is totally secure with an appropriate key length. The important characteristic of the algorithm is that unlike most encryption algorithms there is no shared secret key and therefore little opportunity for the key to be stolen. Cribble is making this technology available to everyone in the interest of promoting the right to privacy when communicating and making payments on the internet. 2. Will Cribble security work on all phones? Cribble works best on a high performance phone such as iPhone5 or Android phone which runs version 4.4 or higher. Typically phones with a big screen and not more than 3 years old will be appropriate. 3. Why do other messaging apps not offer encryption? This is becoming a standard feature. 4. What happens if I lose my phone? If you lose your phone and you have not locked it then the finder (thief) could open the phone and look at your messages. 5. Can I install my secret security code on a second phone? No. The secret key must remain in the phone to minimize the risk that someone can find and copy it. 6. Can I decide to encrypt some messages and not others? No. We have decided to encrypt all Cribble messages except images as a matter of policy. 7. Is Cribble security better than BitCoin security? Yes. BitCoin security depends on the fact that there will be more good guys defending the system than bad guys trying to crack it. As soon as there would be more bad guys then the system is hacked in minutes so there is no inherent strength to the security. 8. Is Cribble security different than SSL? Yes. SSL uses the RSA algorithm to exchange a shared session key and then encrypts the messages in the session. This mechanism encrypts your messages from your phone to the server of your provider. The provider then has the message in the clear. 9. Surely some implementations use SSL as an end to end security between end user devices? Yes this is true. This means that the end to end session is encrypted using a symmetric algorithm. The point is that these symmetric algorithms are relatively easy to crack. Typically a few days for a well organized attack. That is why it is important to keep changing the session key. It also means that whatever you write can be public within a few days :-( 10. How does Cribble encrypt data stored locally on the phone? We don't believe in local encryption. If someone gets access to your phone they can read your messages through the app so why spend a lot of energy encrypting the disk when everything is clear on the screen and in the memory of the app. 11. Does Cribble sign messages to provide proof or origin? Yes. All messages are signed using RSA. Technically, after the message is encrypted using the public key of the receiver it is encrypted using the private key of the sender. 12. Can government organizations read my messages? No. Cribble is using RSA with a key length that has never been cracked, neither with super computers nor distributed networked attacks. 13. Will it ever be possible to crack RSA? Yes. But this is not really a concern because cracking a single key will take years of super computing power and the algorithm has the property that this difficulty increases exponentially with the length of the key, so that it requires twice as much time to crack a key length of 1025 as it does to crack a key length of 1024. 14. Does Cribble work with different RSA key lengths? Yes. Cribble has been tested with key lengths that are many orders of magnitude more difficult to crack. The use of a longer key length may be an optional upgrade in the future. 15. Finally, do governments allow the use of strong encryption? Governments prefer to be able to easily snoop on all communication. However, they accept that if such technology is widely available at a low price and used for payments then it is allowed.
Cribble Codes 1. What is a Cribble code? A Cribble code is a convenient way to share contact and payment details to make the process of accepting a payment as simple and fast as possible. With a single click, a Cribble user can capture everything needed to make a payment. This means that with a Cribble code making a payment will only take a couple of seconds and a full product description can be captured. 2. Technically - what is a Cribble code? A Cribble code is a QR code formatted as follows: m=email-address/Currency/Amount/Description. For example firstname.lastname@example.org/EUR/275/One~pair~of~black~Hugo~boss~shoes~size~9 The space character is not allowed in a Cribble code so use the tilda (~) as a space in the code. It will be automatically converted back to a space on the screen. 3. How do I make a Cribble code? Once you have registered for payments you can make a Cribble code using Cribble. Goto the shop configurtion screen by holding the add contact icon on the home screen. Then tap the link icon and as you enter currency, amount and description the Cribble code will be created on your screen. You can copy/paste this to print, email, send via Cribble etc. Alternatively, you will find many websites where you can make QR codes. Just follow the format above to make a Cribble code. 4. How can I scan a Cribble code? Just click the Cribble code icon on the main screen to scan a Cribble code and this will automatically pre-fill the payment entry screen with the information on the code. You will be able to make the payment even if you are not a contact of the seller. 5. Can I scan a Cribble code on another phone? Sure. That is a possible scenario. For example, a retailer could enter the amount and description to generate a Cribble code. He could then show this to the client who could scan the Cribble code from the retailer's phone to make the payment. This is a very similar process to taking payment with a mobile card reader with the added benefit that the client doesn't share their card details or put their card into an unknown device. 6. How do I put a Cribble code on my YouTube Video? Simply make a QR code as described above and save as a .PNG image. It is best to make a high resolution image. For example, 3000x3000 pixels. Upload the image as a watermark in the branding section of your channel and it will appear on all your videos. Clicking your watermark will open your channel so it is a good idea to put a larger QR code in your channel art to make scanning even faster. 7. Can a Cribble code be scanned with a normal QR code reader? Yes. A "normal" QR code reader that can be downloaded to almost any smartphone such as (Nokia, Blackberry, Windows, Android, iOS, etc) will open a URL. To adapt your Cribble codes so that they can be read by and QR code reader in addition to Cribble then add the following prefix to your Cribble codes. http://www.cribbleweb.com/pay/?m= so that an example cribble code would be : http://email@example.com/EUR/275/One~pair~of~black~Hugo~boss~shoes~size~9 8. Can I add a background to my payment screen? Yes. If you open the payment screen by scanning a Cribble code then you can add a postfix to the Cribble code which is a link to a picture that will form the background. the postfix is of the format /http://images.supersport.com/2014/4/Cristiano-Ronaldo-130721-LooksOn-R-300.jpg The picture must be a png of jpeg format. 9. Can we turn a Cribble code into a link? Yes. A Cribble code that can be scanned by any QR code reader is also a link so you can use it is a link on a website or email so that your clients can click on an electronic Cribble code image. For example you can click on : http://firstname.lastname@example.org/EUR/1/demo~Cribble~payment and if you enter your credit card details a real payment of one euro will be made. 10. Can I generate a QR code from a Cribble code link? Yes. You can add a prefix to a Cribble code link to generate a Cribble code. You would typically do this in a webpage to create a Cribble code dynamically from the price and description of some goods but here is a prefix that you could use thanks to google. http://chart.googleapis.com/chart?chs=300x300&cht=qr&chl= Therefore, if you click the following link you will have a Cribble code that can be scanned to open the same link as we have in the previous example. http://chart.googleapis.com/chart?chs=300x300&cht=qr&chl=http://email@example.com/EUR/1/demo~Cribble~payment 11. Why would I use a QR code rather than a barcode? Barcodes are fixed by the manufacturer of goods. The Cribble Shop allows you to link a price to a barcode at a specific location so that you can quickly create a shop. Cribble QR codes are much more dynamic and flexible because they can be dynamically created and contain all the information to make a payment. For example, if you have a restaurant and want to allow your client to pay the bill then you would put a QR code on the bill so that the client could scan to pay the entire bill rather than a bunch of items on the menu. Similarly, if you have a website with a shopping basket you could generate a QR code allowing payment during the checkout process. 12. Can I add a Cribble code to my Cribble Shop instead of a Barcode? Yes. If you already have a Cribble code simply scan it into your Cribble shop and any associated description and picture will be pre-filled in the form. In this case, if your customer scans your QR code it will be added to the basket for your store just as a barcode related item would be added. 13. Can I create a Cribble code to open my Cribble shop? Yes. Create a Cribble code of the format w=email-address. 14. Can I add a prefix to a Cribble code that will download Cribble if not installed? If you add the prefix http://www.cribbleweb.com/? then your Cribble shop will be opened in a browser if the code is scanned with a normal QR reader whereas if it is scanned with Cribble then your Cribble shop will be opened in Cribble. 15. Can I add a prefix to a Cribble Code that will open the Cribble App? Yes. Add the prefix cribble://app/? and most normal QR code readers will open the Cribble app. Similarily, if you scan or click such a code within Cribble the correct screen will be opened.
Cribble WiFi 1. What is Cribble WiFi? Cribble WiFi is a crowd sourced database of WiFi networks and associated passwords. 2. How do I connect to Cribble WiFi? You can use Cribble to scan any Wifi-QR-code that you find or search for nearby WiFi within Cribble. You wont need to type a passwords but you will have to click a few Oks on iOS. 3. How do I share a WiFi code? You can create a Cribble Code that other users can scan or you can save your WiFi in the Cribble WiFi database so that others can find it. 4.Why would anyone share their WiFi password If you have a cafe, bar etc then it is normal that your clients will ask for the code so why not make it easy. Many people will also find it convenient to share their home WiFi so that family and friends don't waste their time mis-typing a huge pass-code.
Installation 1. Can I install on multiple devices? Yes, but each device must have a unique email address that you can verify. This means that you won't receive the same message on multiple devices. 2. What happens if I re-install on the same device? When you uninstall then all storage on your device used by the app will be deleted. This means that all messages on your device will be deleted, and all your security keys will be deleted. Therefore when you re-install you will need to re-verify your email and generate new security keys. If there are messages in transit when you uninstall and delete your security keys the messages will not be lost but you will not be able to decrypt them with the new security keys. In this circumstance, you should ask your contact to send the message again. You will also need to re-enter your credit card details upon first use. 3. Why does re-installation reset everything? This is mainly because Android and iOS both delete all data when you uninstall and because the main reason for re-install is to reset the app back to its original state.
Geo Location 1. Is it necessary to enable location to use Cribble If you want to drive or ride with Cribble you will need to share your location. If you want to find nearby stores or nearby wifi you will need to share your location. If you want to purchase Cribble Cover you must share your location even if using another app such as Uber. If you add a shop you must share your location when editing the shop otherwise your shop wont be found. If you use Cribble to scan barcodes you must share your location to find the current shop or nearby shops. Your location is not necessary (and not used) when you exchange messages or make payments. 2. Will geo-location drain my battery? If you enable high accuracy or GPS (device) only modes this may drain your battery. However, Cribble does not need these modes so select low accuracy so that location is determined from wifi and data networks. Low accuracy location is available on all iOS and Android devices and will not drain your battery.
Other Permissions 1. Is it necessary to accept notifications? Yes. The Cribble messaging system that is used to communicate between users (e.g. when you order a Cribble or make a payment) uses notifications to alert the other party. If you disable notifications then you may miss important messages or important status changes such as "driver arriving". 2. Why does Cribble ask for other permissions? Cribble only asks for permissions needed by you. For example, if you want to take a picture we need access to your camera. Similarly, we ask to access your contacts to help you type an email address without mistakes. We no not use your email addresses for our gain.
Registration Troubleshooting 1. How do I get help in Cribble? On many pages you can click the logo at the top of the page for help 2. What is the most common problem during registration? Trying to register without sharing location. We need to know your location to perform country specific validations. In addition to rendering the driver functionality useless, lack of location is likely to make parts of the app that need location slow. We don't use location in background unless you are on a trip or an online driver looking for a trip so it's best to enable location when prompted by the App since we can only ask once. 3. What can I do if I don't receive notifications? Go to settings and enable notifications. If they appear to be enabled then disable and then enable again. 7. I didn't receive my password to verify my email !! Emails are occasionally delayed but the most common error is a typo in the email address. Common examples are hotmai.com instead of hotmail.com and hotmail.co.com instead of hotmail.co.uk or hotmail.com
